As I mentioned in a previous post, our Library teacher, Miss Lori, plays a special role in our family. She embodies gentleness, kindness and a lovely sense of humour. Therefore, she deserved a "chiq" appreciation gift this Holiday season. I believe that if a gift is wrapped with care and creativity, then the receiver feels even more special.
It will come as no surprise that Miss Lori's gift is covered in ruffles and lace. I channelled a vintage/ rustic/french vibe.
First, I cut up an old t-shirt, sewed it into a ruffle and then glued it onto a Kraft bag I purchased from a Dollar Store.
I created the tag from a thick piece of cardboard bought in a scrapbooking store. I punched a hole in it and then slapped on some medium (from an art store) with a putty knife. I let that dry and then I took a baby wipe and some beige paint and rubbed it onto the dried medium to create an "aged" look.
And finally, I stamped on a Fluer-De-Lis image and stuck on a letter "L" that I bought from a lovely little scrapbooking store here in Erin (they are having a 60% off sale right now: http://www.scrapbookstudio-oldetyme.blogspot.com/).
To top off the whole vintage/rustic vibe, I added some creamy lace and rustic twine.
